Why are we called Big Creek Church?

Located at the intersection of US Hwy 61 and Dietrich Road, Big Creek is right in our backyard!

Not to mention that in the summer of 2021, the church was literally in Big Creek.
Well, maybe Big Creek was in the church.
Anyway, there was a flood.
The entire campus was covered in muddy creek water at least 2 feet deep. All flooring and the bottom section of all walls, plus a whole lot more, had to be replaced.

It’s also a cool metaphor for Jesus being our living water.  Psalm 1:3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

Why is the creek named that?

We don’t know.  But it is a creek. And it’s BIG. Go figure.

The 2021 Restoration

Staff and volunteers put in many hours ripping out the damage and cleaning up the mess.

This was taken when the building was being repaired, thus the big dumpster and porta-potty.

We help a worship service in the parking lot on the 4th of July.
After that, our friends at Peine Ridge Church let us use their building for a few months.

Now we’re back in a beautifully restored building, where we can look at the creek out the windows.
Big Creek will always be a part of us. We hope that you will, too!
